TOPIC: Ukraine a stalemate?

Around five months after the counteroffensive began, Ukrainian forces captured 370 km² of territory, less than half of the amount Russia captured earlier in the year. Russia fought for ten months around Bakhmut in the east to take a town six by six kilometres. Just like in the first world war have we reached the level of technology that puts everything into a stalemate?

Is this how things stand and if so, what are the options for Ukraine, Russia and the West?
