Committee Rights and Responsibilities

The Management Committee is responsible for policy development, broad management and financial management of the organisation. Members of the Management Committee must clearly understand their rights and responsibilities in these matters.

YCC as an incorporated body under the Incorporated Associations Reform Act (2012), and is committed to ensuring a high quality management system in which members of the Committee are aware of their rights and responsibilities, and are able to meet their legal obligations. YCC provides training for members of the Committee, as required.

Members of the Management Committee have the right to:

• gain satisfaction from their involvement with the organisation;

• to be supported by other Committee members;

• to be respected by paid workers and other Committee members;

• to receive adequate information and a clear description of specific responsibilities;

• to receive initial induction and ongoing training and skill development;

• to have clearly defined channels of responsibility and accountability, and

• to know what tasks they will be expected to perform.

Responsibilities of Committee members are:

• to attend at least 75% of all Management Committee meetings and

• to participate in discussions and decisions at these meetings.

• Expected to read, comment on and contribute to any working papers and proposals, form sub Committees and working groups, and take part in planning sessions, fund raising activities, and other tasks.
