Yack Community Garden - Winter Solstice Pizza Night

Come along at: 4pm for kids rock painting activities (prepare for a mess). Or from 5pm for pizza baking.

Join us at the Yack Community Garden for the annual solstice pizza night. The winter solstice is an astronomical phenomenon that occurs each year in June as the Earth orbits the Sun. It is the shortest day of the year and the longest night; and the point at which the earth begins her long, slow turn towards the light.

The solstice has been observed for many thousands of years and it’s a wonderful time of year to retreat inwards and reflect on the wonders of nature.

Many traditional cultures used winter as a time to slow down and reconnect with the natural world.

It’s a great time to gather friends together for a hearty, warming meal to recognise and feel part of

this ancient tradition.

Bring the kids at 4pm to participate in painting some fun rock art (wear old clothes).

Please bring a pizza or anything you fancy to bake in the oven and any other food to share. BYO drinks, plates, chair and cutlery. BYO musical instruments.

Participation by donation ($10 or what you can afford)
